Listen Live

(10-20 hours per week | This is an unpaid internship)

Duties:

In any given week, there are numerous events at WXPN that need to be photographed: studio sessions for World Cafe and The Key, Free at Noon concerts, special events and more. We are seeking a photography student to document these things, and assist with upkeep and maintenance of the station's Adobe Light Room archive.

Candidates should own a camera and have a strong working knowledge of shooting. (Experience shooting live music and shooting in a studio is a plus.) They should also be familiar with Light Room and photo editing, and adept at importing images; making basic photo adjustments; assisting in the editing process to select the best images and remove the unusable ones; assist in the process of keyword and metadata tagging images for search functionality; and assist staff with learning and understanding how to utilize the library for their needs.

Qualifications:

At least one year (or equivalent) of college-level digital photography classes and/or experience

Strong understanding and familiarity with all basic digital photography topics, including file types, resolutions, color management, etc.

Strong understanding and familiarity with the basic photo editing process in order to select the best images within a batch and remove out-of-focus, under-over exposed, and/or redundant images.

Basic understanding of Digital Asset Management software (experience with Adobe Lightroom 5 or previous versions is a big plus!) and the concepts behind non-destructive photo editing.

The University of Pennsylvania is an EEO/Affirmative Action employer.

Application requirements: In addition to your resume and application form, please submit a portfolio of your photos, preferably music & event shots.
