Cee Lo (of Gnarls Barkley fame) has cleaned-up his latest single so now XPN play it on the air. The re-done version is called “Forget You” & maybe you heard Michaela play it on the XPN Morning Show today.
We’re big fans of Pete Yorn and are excited to hear the news of a new album coming out in September on Vagrant Records. But wait. Vagrant? Not Sony? So what’s up with that? Sources tell us that he’s still on Sony, however Pete’s new record is coming out on Vagrant on September 28th. The album is self-titled and was produced by Frank Black around the time Pete recorded his last album Back And Fourth. Here’s a track from the album via Magnet.
Y’all remember Laetitia Sadier, right? Of course you do! She of Stereolab (and a side project called Monade Ms. Sadier is releasing a solo album called The Trip on Drag City on September 21st. This new tune is pretty classic; patience is rewarded when it begins to pick up full-on hypnotic ‘Lab” style then comes down just slowly enough for a walk along the beach. This is nice.

It’s a revival, this Barn Rock, a soulful meander through life’s richness and darkness. The opening plea of “(I want my) Truck Back,” an electric ode to a Toyota SR-5 truck they sold for a dollar, weaves the history of the truck from the Poconos to Chinqeteague (maybe the only time that word appears in a rock and roll song).
