The headliners for the Sept. 1st & 2nd “Made in America” festival on the Ben Franklin Parkway will be Jay-Z & Pearl Jam. The two-day, Labor Day weekend festival will also feature dubstep artist Skrillex, with performances by Afrojack, Miike Snow, Odd Future, Passion Pit, Janelle Monae, the Dirty Projectors, Santigold & D’Angelo among others. Two-day, festival passes go on sale tomorrow (Wed.5/23)at 10:00am via Ticketmaster and Livenation.com.

Robin Gibb of The Bee Gees has died after a battle with cancer. He was 62. Gibb’s final project was “The Titanic Requiem,” a classical work that premiered in London in April to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

Joe Jackson is enlisting the help of Iggy Pop, Sharon Jones, Questlove & others for a new tribute album to Duke Ellington. It’s called “The Duke” & will be out on July 23rd. Some of the songs covered included: “Mood Indigo”, I Got it Bad”, and “It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Ain’t Got That Swing”. The album was recorded & mixed by 7-time grammy winner Elliot Scheiner, who has worked with Steely Dan, Sting & Bob Dylan.

Passion Pit has a new record coming out on July 24th called Gossamer. Below, listen to the first new song from the record, “Take A Walk.”

Music-News.com is reporting that The Smiths are going to reunite this fall for the first time since breaking up in 1987. According to the website Morrissey and Johnny Marr have patched things up & will join with band members Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce.

However, New Music Express says the report is untrue.

During a five year period between 1983 and 1987 The Smiths released almost 20 singles and 7 albums, and are recognized by rock critics as one of the most significant bands of the 1980′s. It’s been reported over the years that The Smiths had turned down over $100 million to tour the US.

* 92 year old folk legend Pete Seeger has won a “Distinguished Service” award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He’ll receive the honor May 16th. Also: Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough will be given a gold medal for biography and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Steven Reich will receive a gold medal for music.

* Jack White will write, produce and perform the soundtrack to Disney’s new adaptation of The Lone Ranger. The project will be White’s first film soundtrack, following the release of his solo album ‘Blunderbuss’ . The Lone Ranger will star Johnny Depp .

* Passion Pit will release their brand new album, ‘Gossamer’, on July 23. It’ll feature 12 songs. Passion Pit will tour North America this summer.

Record Store Day is tomorrow. Jack White is selling a playable 12-inch version of his “Sixteen Saltines” song that’s clear with blue liquid inside. It’s only sold at his Third Man Records in Nashville. The band Fun. will release a gold gear-shaped picture disc of “The Ghost That You Are To Me.” Other artists with special music releases tomorrow include Iggy and the Stooges, Arcade Fire, Bruce Springsteen, Garbage, Coldplay and Phish. The Bob Marley documentary “Marley” will stream on Facebook simultaneously during its theatrical opening on April 20th, marking the first such U.S. film to stream concurrently on Facebook while opening in theaters. The film, directed by Kevin Macdonald, will also be available to rent for $6.99 on the same day it opens in theaters. A portion of the proceeds from Facebook sales will benefit Save the Children.
