Philadelphia Songwriters Project Contest Winners
The Philadelphia Songwriters Project announced four winners for the 2010 Songwriting Contest. The winners were:

Tania Alexandra is an Indie musician based in Philadelphia. Her music can be described as a colorful blend of alternative folk. Tania’s voice is smooth and powerful, and her music is filled with emotive force. While she often performs solo, she sometimes plays with a band. In either scenario, Tania’s musical art is emotional, fun, and profound.
2) Johnny Miles

This folk rocker complements his guitar driven, country-style instrumentals with calm vocals. The Philadelphia Weekly accurately said of Johnny Miles:
“It’s a quick scribble across the American landscape…The lyrics are commanding…has the hard-bitten self-awareness of a protest song as well as a hooky alt-country catchiness”
3) Ryan Tennis

Ryan Tennis’ soulful acoustic sounds have been a huge hit locally and globally! In college Ryan was a committed football player, but he eventually decided to channel his energy into creating music. In 2008 he toured for months in Australia, Thailand, Bangladesh and Laos. Upon returning home to Philadelphia he got back in the “groove” of things and started playing with a full band as well as solo.

The Fleeting Ends is a band that hails from Upper Darby. Their sound owes as much to their American roots as to the British classic and new wave bands they obsess over. Their self-titled debut record’s sound gives a nod to XTC’s Black Sea, and includes a cover of The Smith’s “Girl Afraid.” Take the Rolling Stones swagger, the rawness of The Strokes, the melody of The Beatles and pour it through a funnel of The Clash and strain it with Wire and you have The Fleeting Ends
