First songs I heard on the radio after my first child was born
by Andrew Reiss, Norristown, Pennsylvania
It was later at night that I left the hospital after Andrew was born. Both Mother and child were fine and I was returning home after a long day. I got in the car and turned on XPN to hear the beginning of one of my favorite REM songs; “It’s the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)”. Instantly the song took on an entirely new meaning for me for indeed my life had changed completely but I was happy about it! The next song was the Big Mountain reggae cover of Peter Frampton’s “ooh baby I love your way”. I couldn’t have picked two more perfect songs to first hear after my son was born!
