Danced with Bruce Springsteen
by Dallyn Pavey, Wayne, PA
Bryn Mawr, PA, 1973, the Main Point, 10th grade. My first time. I couldn’t afford a ticket. But, my friend worked the door and I was in for free! Bruuuuuce was 25, I was hooked. 15 years and 50 concerts later, here I am, in the front row of the Philadelphia Spectrum, March 9th, 1988. This is it. “Dancin’ in the Dark”! Bruce makes his way around the stage, making eye contact with the girls in the front row. Their hands in the air, saying “Here I am.” I’ve watched this scene from a distance for so many years. But now, it’s my turn. Bruce walks by me. I put my hands to my heart, praying “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE choose me.” “Hey Baaaaaaby.” He looks at me and holds out his hand!! “Me? Me?” He picked me! Bruce reaches out. I am pushed onto the stage. Bruce and I dance for what seems like an eternity. I told him I loved him. He told me that I was “a good dancer.” Then we hugged and he led me to the edge of the stage. As I floated back to my seat, my friends ran over to meet me. We laughed, we hugged, we cried. The next day, Philadelphia radio legend Ed Sciaky called. The Inquirer called. My friends called. Later that week, I received a package in the mail. Enclosed were photographs of Bruce and I dancing. It was by far THE MOST EXCITING NIGHT of my life!

July 30th, 2007 at 9:57 amCourtney Cox who? This hot Main Line mama surely caught Bruce’s attention with those sparkling eyes and wide grin. She’s a rocker through and through and has quite a vault of memorabilia and memories. I might add though, that we need to get a “best night of my life” in the 21st century
you’ve got a long way to go girl before this adventure’s over.
