My First Album
by Jon Bayley, Ewing, New Jersey
I was around five years old and I talked my mom into buying an album for me. It was “Something New” from the Beatles and it was my biggest “in your face” moment as well as music moment, since I became the first in the family to own a Beatles album. My older sister and brother were so pissed that I was able to get a Beatles album before either of them.
Secondary great musical moment was having my older brother talk me into picking a certain 45 that he thought I would hate for sure. Our mother told us to pick a 45 and she would buy it. My brother picked the Rolling Stones “As Tears Go By” and I picked Ray Charles “Cryin Time.” I loved it.
