First Concerts
by Matt, Flourtown, PA
In June of 1978 I had the great pleasure of my Dad taking me and 6 friends down to JFK to see the Rolling Stones. We all still applaud and appreciate the effort he made that day to corral and chaparone 7 teenagers to a massive concert. We took the broad street line down to JFK and were entertained by Peter Tosh as opener, complete with Mick and Keith doing Don’t Look Back, followed by Foreigner and then the STONES! Being one of our first concert experiences we were as much amused by the crowd as by the bands on stage — not to mention the contact high we all got (including Dad) from the partiers to our right and left. I have gone on to see the Stones nearly 15 times since that day and have enjoyed them all but perhaps none more than that first time.
I have begun to carry on the tradition of Dads and concerts having taken my daughter Daisy to her first show at age 5 to see Citizen Cope at XPN Free at Noon Show at World Cafe Live. Thanks Dad!
