Noon Delight
by Eric Lorgus, West Chester, PA
I’ve always adored Minnie Driver, so when I heard she was going to perform at XPN’s Live At Noon, I made sure I got my name in on time. I invited a friend, and we decided to take the train in from Exton rather than fight the traffic. What a civilized way that is to travel! I was impressed with XPN’s new digs — my first visit since the move.
The concert began with the charming duo of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, who I confess I knew nothing about. But wow, they were great. I still haven’t seen “Alone” yet, but I want to. Then it was Minnie’s turn, and there she was. It’s funny to see people from the movies in real life, as if it were a surprise that they really existed. Minnie was great, too, and quite engaging with her confessions of being sooo nervous. After the concert, she signed her CD’s and had her picture taken with her fans, and made it seem like she had all the time in the world. I was really impressed with Minnie.
I also felt so lucky that day, that XPN attracts all these great artists and throws these free concerts. They should get the Nobel Prize for best radio station (is there a category for that?).
