813: Coachella kicks off
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is held annually in Indio, California. The first festival was held on October 9 and 10, 1999, and featured performances by more than 60 bands including Beck, The Chemical Brothers, Pavement, Jurassic 5, Medeski Martin & Wood, Modest Mouse, Morrissey, and DJ Shadow. Indio is part of the Colorado Desert, and Coachella has the reputation of being one of the hottest festivals in the country.
