Beru Revue with a solo acoustic set from Tommy Conwell

Hear a concert live Friday at 12noon ET from WXPN and NPR Music
Broadcast live Fridays from the stage at World Cafe Live

Beru RevueFriday's Free at Noon concert features Beru Revue with a special solo acoustic set from Tommy Conwell.

Beru Revue are celebrating their 30th Anniversary with a show at World Cafe Live in Philly on Friday night, November 25 at 8pm, and they'll be here that day for an XPN Free At Noon.

A staple of Philly's club circuit in the 1980s, Beru Revue is best known for the radio hit "Hoods A Go-Go." With Bob Beru at the helm, the group invigorated audiences with its fiery rock performances and flair for the theatric. Beru Revue disbanded in 1988, and reunited with a revised lineup in 2006, now featuring Bob Beru, lead vocals, Greg Davis and Mark Julian Teague on guitar, Tommy Pinto on drums, Jerry Getz on bass, and Buzz Barkley on keyboard.

If you turned on a radio in the late 80s, there's a good chance you'd hear the winding electric guitar licks and passionately raw vocals of "I'm Not Your Man," the number one hit by Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumblers. Tommy Conwell

Conwell has fronted a number of bands over the years, but he's best known for his work with the Young Rumblers. Tommy Conwell and the Rumblers were for many years a favorite of the Philly club scene. They garnered fairly widespread acclaim in the mid-80s with their independently-released debut, Walkin' on the Water. Conwell has remained a staple of the Philadelphia music scene, regularly playing clubs and DJing local radio. Enjoy his acoustic stylings in this week's Free at Noon performance.
