Coldplay - X & Y - Capitol

Many curious music fans want to know: Can Coldplay do it again? Can they follow-up their masterful 2002 release with a collection of songs as good as, if not better than A Rush Of Blood To The Head? The answer is yes - X&Y has many of the musical Coldplay-isms in place to make this their best record yet.

X&Y clearly finds Coldplay’s success formula on solid ground; they sound the same, yet they manage enough new musical adventurousness without sacrificing what their fans love. Clocking in at about an hour X&Y starts out strong with the opener “Square One,” and continues with the beautiful piano-based “Fix You,” and “Talk,” a wise choice for the “next single. Their majestic first single “Speed of Sound” starts off side two (if there was a side two) and ends with the gorgeous “The Hardest Part,” and the Cure-like “Swallowed In The Sea.”

No doubt, X&Y will wind up on many music fan’s best of lists for the year.
