John Mayer - Continuum - Aware / Columbia

Is John Mayer the STING of the 00's? Perhaps, in the sense that he is capable of producing consistent, well-produced albums, each with several very appealing songs that combine world-class songcraft with great playing. Accomplishing that is much easier said than done, but Mayer gets it done on Continuum.

All of the things that made him a star are here. He gets the very most out of his voice on every song, and he's undeniably a very talented guitar player. His words may be his secret weapon, at least when it comes to his continuing flirtation with the mainstream. Songs like "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room" and "Dreaming With A Broken Heart" are going to make someone out there want to give the guy a hug (or more). Elsewhere, tunes such as "Vultures" or the first single "Waiting On The World To Change" provide the requisite head-bobbing moments.

I'd like to wish John the very best of luck in his relationship with Jessica Simpson. The good thing about this relationship is that - when their reality TV series gets produced - we may actually hear some decent music in between scenes.
