The Who - Endless Wire - Universal Republic

Endless Wire is the first studio album in 24 years to consist of new material from The Who. The last two Who standing - Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend - have delivered an enjoyable, if uneven, album worth of new material.

Consisting of nine tunes and another of Townshend's beloved "mini operas" called "Wire & Glass," Endless Wire does succeed in shaking out the cobwebs. Songs like "Tea & Theatre," "Mike Post Theme" and the guitar laden "It's Not Enough" all boast the theatrics of the classic Who. The collection also includes a bonus DVD of the Who live in France this past Summer. Townshend also played most of the instruments on the album, wrote the songs and produced the record.

A lot of us had given up on The Who - what, with their endless "farewell tours" and all - but Endless Wire does show that there is some fuel left in the creative tank after all.
