Lisa Marie Presley and Robert Gordon Graceland

Our World Cafe Sense of Place trip to Graceland makes a stop on Elvis Presley Blvd to visit the humble home of The King. You can view our special tour as we linger in the Jungle Room here. In this session we hear from Elvis’s daughter Lisa Marie Presley, It Came From Memphis author Robert Gordon, Kevin Kern, the Director of Public Relations for Elvis Presley Enterprises, and Kevin Kern, the Director of Public Relations for Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.

Kevin Kern gives us a personal tour of The King’s estate, sharing how Graceland was really a home to the famed singer, why it might seem small to us today, and a few facts you might not know about a site so frequently the focus of a musical pilgrimage. Lisa Marie Presley reflects on memories growing up there and spending time with her father, as well as what it is like for her today with the house being a tourism spot. Finally, author Robert Gordon tells the story of the time he actually got kicked out of Graceland while on a writing assignment.
There is lots more about Memphis food, venues and more spots to visit at our Sense of Place website.
