Sam Smith Artist To Watch - May 2014

May’s Artist To Watch is Sam Smith, a young (22 years old) British singer-songwriter already turning heads from his appearance on Saturday Night Live and a recent cover of his song “Stay With Me” on The Voice.
Smith did a recent tour of the States and will be featured on an upcoming World Cafe, interviewed by Michaela, on May 8th. Sam’s show at Philly’s Boot and Saddle on March 21st was recorded in its entirety and is archived here

Smith first came to attention as the singer on “Latch” by the British electronica duo Disclosure. He followed that with the number one British hit song “La La La” with Naughty Boy, a British DJ and producer. Smith won the prestigious BBC Sound of 2014 award and is releasing his debut album, In The Lonely Hour, on June 17th. He released his debut EP, Nirvana, this past January that featured the electronica and dance oriented “Money On My Mind.” The anthemic “Stay With Me,” and “Not In That Way”- from his forthcoming debut full length – are powerful showcases for his soulful, yet tender voice.
