Join us for the Free At Noon at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as David Gray performs a live midday concert on Friday.

With more than two decades of songwriting and ten studio albums under his belt, English singer-songwriter David Gray is still going strong and touring to support his newest effort, 2014's Mutineers. The tour will make a stop in Philly at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts on June 19. Gray will be performing a joint show with Philly folk artist Amos Lee.

Although three of his albums have reached #1 on the charts, Gray experienced phenomenal commercial success with the release of his fourth album, 1998's White Ladder. His expansive career since then has seen him shift from primarily acoustic-guitar oriented folk music to more of an indie rock sound, with computer-generated music accompanying his voice and acoustic instrumentation. On his new Mutineers, Gray addresses a need to surprise himself, not just in terms of how he works, but the ideas that drive him and the people he has worked with.

Join us at World Cafe Live for a Free At Noon concert featuring David Gray by RSVPing at XPN.org; you can also tune in at 88.5 FM or XPN.org.

David Gray Changes How He Makes New Album Mutineers
This week's Free at Noon at the World Cafe Live as David Gray performs a SOLD OUT live midday concert on Friday.

David Gray comes back to town in support of his new album, Mutineers, joining us this Friday for XPN's Free At Noon concert. Mutineers is latest in a long list of consistently great music released by Gray, whose first album, A Century Ends, was released in 1993. Since then, the past 21 years have been a whirlwind for UK-born Gray, releasing new music and touring virtually nonstop. He's amassed 10 albums of fantastic music – including 1998’s White Ladder and it’s hit single “Babylon." Hear some of it at XPN's Free At Noon this Friday, and see David Gray when he returns to Philadelphia for a headlining show at The Tower Theater on August 5th. Tickets are available here.

Over 10 years since the release of White Ladder, the man who brought us "Babylon" returns with arguably his most engaging collection of songs since that 1999 breakthrough album. Draw The Line is the new release from David Gray. The new album was patiently recorded over two years in the North London studio, The Church, which Gray purchased from the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart. A new setting, a new band and a new record label result in a refreshed batch of songs.

Welcome back Mr. David Gray!

How much do XPN listeners and members love your music?

Let me count the ways.

For starters, our infatuation began with David long before his 1999 breakthrough record, White Ladder. From his 1993 debut, A Century Ends, we marveled at songs like the title song, “Shine,” “Wisdom,” and the brilliant “Let The Truth Sting.”
