Trigger Hippy is a roots rock powerhouse formed in 2009, whose prominent members include guitarist Jackie Greene and drummer Steve Gorman of The Black Crowes, along with longtime singer/songwriter Joan Osbourne. The band joins us for a live midday concert on Friday, August 1st. So far, Trigger Hippy has only released one self-titled EP - four songs of blistering, blues-infused rock and roll – along with a live album recorded at the 2012 Wanee Festival in Live Oak, Florida. But they have plans to release a new album soon later this year, after they perform at WXPN's XPoNential Festival on Sunday July 27. Later on this summer, they'll headline the Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pa on August 16, get tickets here.
It's pretty simple, but always effective. The Black Crowes twangy take on straight up rock and roll and all of its' many predecessor's styles is on fine display on Warpaint. The band, especially its' stoner poster boy frontman Chris Robinson, is a lot smarter than most give them credit for, and they are most certainly true believers in the visceral connection between the pulpit and the concert stage.
