  • Celebrate Thanksgiving with African Dance & Drums

  • KuluMele African Dance & Drum Ensemble is “Celebrating Senegal” with an all-new show during Thanksgiving weekend, at the Painted Bride Art Center in Old City, Philadelphia, just blocks from the Liberty Bell. Performances of “Celebrating Senegal” are scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults; $15 for children 12 and younger. This festive, family-friendly event will feature traditional West African folk dance and American hip hop, as well as an African bazaar in the theater lobby, including an African American Santa Claus. Tickets to “Celebrating Senegal” are on sale now at or (215) 925-9914. Kulu Mele preserves and presents the traditional dance and music of Africa and celebrates contemporary African American culture. Kulu Mele has been a highly regarded Philadelphia cultural institutiion for nearly 50 years.
