(10-40 hours per week)

Duties: Do you love listening to new music? Requires a capacity for critical listening to music submitted for potential radio airplay. Familiarity with a broad range of music and ability to communicate musical concepts is valuable. Knowledge of local artists or willingness to be proactive about learning the local music currents is important. Interns should have the availability to go see live performances and bring information about them to the Philly Local show. Work with the web team to keep Philly Local current and growing. Responsible for entering all incoming CD's into the Excel spreadsheet, coding music, filing incoming CD's, and previewing incoming CD's.

Specific Duties:

• Assist On Air Host
• Research local and regional music
• Check weekly publications for any new releases, show and artists that have not been submitted to Philly Local (Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware, Harrisburg, Lancaster and surrounding areas)
• Respond to emails about the midday show
• Update content on Helen's webpage
• Take and post pictures of Helen with guest performers
• Assist guest performers on the midday show
• Help with load-in and out
• Provide hospitality
• Document music played for Philly Local Blog Pick of the Day
• Make sure artist is listed on website - Philly Local page
• Serve as back up for studio volunteers – answer phones and respond to studio mail
• Serve as back up for other programming Intern/Work-Study duties
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Must have an interest in all genres of music. This intern must be proficient in Microsoft programs, including Excel, Outlook and Word and have the knowledge necessary to perform extensive music research on the web.
