WXPN is seeking a photography student with excellent Adobe Lightroom 6 skills for organizing the station’s ten-year-plus photo archive of festivals, events, staff members and other assorted images. The goal is to complete a digital library of images that 1) WXPN’s staff can easily search to find the photograph they are looking for, and 2) will preserve and archive the station’s history. The intern will be responsible for importing images; making basic photo adjustments; editing photo sets to select the best images and remove the unusable ones; adding keyword and metadata tagging images for better searchability; and assisting staff with learning and understanding how to utilize the library for their needs. In addition, this intern will contribute their own photography to coverage of station events such as weekly Free at Noon concerts, World Cafe studio sessions and interviews, and other special station events such as Funky Friday Dance Parties and the annual NonCOMM convention.
At least one year (or equivalent) of college-level digital photography classes and/or experience. Strong understanding and familiarity with all basic digital photography topics, including file types, resolutions, aspect ratios, color management, etc. Strong understanding and familiarity with the basic photo editing process in order to select the best images within a batch and remove out-of-focus, under-over exposed, and/or redundant images. Basic understanding of Digital Asset Management software (experience with Adobe Lightroom 3 or previous versions is a big plus!) and the concepts behind non-destructive photo editing.
Application requirements: In addition to your resume and application form, please submit a digital portfolio your photos, preferably music & event shots.
