World Cafe Programming Intern

(Several positions available - 15-40 hours per week))

Duties:Programming Interns support WXPN's NPR syndicated radio show, World Cafe, through a broad range of tasks including:

  • Artist hospitality: Host World Cafe recording guests on site, load-in and load-out, coordinate hospitality needs, take performance photographs
  • Prepare and maintain World Cafe playlist catalogs (Excel and music scheduling software)
  • Write promotional copy for upcoming World Cafe episodes
  • Format scripts for World Cafe host and show rundowns for affiliate stations
  • Compile press and background info on World Cafe guests through extensive online research
  • Ongoing research of forthcoming books and movies complementary to the World Cafe format
  • Manage World Cafe bookings and broadcast calendars
  • Other duties as needed, including general clerical tasks

Qualifications:Applicants must have a minimum of 15 hours available, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, reliable self-starters with great interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. This team is responsible for extensive research, so applicants must be web savvy and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. An interest in exploring a career in media/entertainment and a familiarity with the music of WXPN and World Cafe are highly desirable.
