World Cafe Programming Intern
(Several positions available - 15-40 hours per week))
Duties: Programming Interns support the NPR-syndicated radio show, World Cafe, through a broad range of tasks including:
- Artist hospitality: Escort World Cafe recording artists on site, load-in and
load-out, coordinate hospitality needs, take performance photographs for web posting
- Research and update World Cafe playlist database
- Write promotional copy about upcoming World Cafe episodes for online publication and on-air promos
- Format World Cafe host's scripts and organize daily show timings and cues for distribution to affiliates
- Compile interview prep files about artists booked to perform on World Cafe through extensive online research for press coverage, biographies, and lyrics
- Ongoing research of forthcoming book and movie releases related to the World Cafe format
- Maintain online calendars of World Cafe bookings and broadcasts
- Other duties as needed including general clerical tasks
Qualifications:Applicants must have a minimum of 15 hours available, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Successful candidates will be reliable, detail-oriented, motivated, have great interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently. This team is responsible for extensive research, so applicants must be web savvy and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. An interest in exploring a career in media/entertainment and a familiarity with the music of XPN and World Cafe are highly desirable.
