Internships: Music Journalism

(15-20 hours a week)

If you are an aspiring music critic, and spend your nights attending shows at venues such First Unitarian Church, Johnny Brenda’s, and The Ox, and want to gain valuable writing experience (as well as a few free tickets), then apply for a music-journalism intern for The Key, WXPN’s local-music website.

Duties: Assist The Key Editor in producing content for thekey.xpn.org, including tour announcements, show previews, concert reviews, record reviews, interviews, link roundups, news updates, and more.

Qualifications: We’re looking for someone with a passion for and extensive knowledge of Philadelphia’s local music scene. A background in journalism—including writing and/or editing experience with a student newspaper or blog—is preferred; photography experience is also a plus. A keen eye for detail, dedication to fact-checking, and willingness to work under deadline are all essential. This is an unpaid intern position.

The University of Pennsylvania is an EEO/Affirmative Action employer.
