WXPN Press Releases
2007-06-18 WXPN Expands Service Area to Include Southern Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, PA – WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A music and a noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, today announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire a Central Pennsylvania broadcasting license*.
Although already broadcasting in the Harrisburg area on WXPH 88.1, this acquisition will enable WXPN’s signal to be heard on WZXM 88.7 in the Lancaster, Lebanon, and York communities. In addition, it will improve the reception in some areas around Harrisburg. WXPN intends to broadcast on WZXM beginning this summer.
“This was a rare investment opportunity that will enable WXPN to better serve the community,” said Roger LaMay, WXPN general manager. “By increasing the signal’s range, we are providing access to about a million more listeners that will now have the opportunity to connect with WXPN artists. And, according to our projections, this investment will pay for itself in seven to 10 years.”
