Indie rock guitarist/singer/songwriter Ted Leo has been added to the Make Music Philly closing concert at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing (Columbus Boulevard at Chestnut Street)

Ted Leo will perform a solo set starting at 7:30 pm. Both Leo’s performance and the one following it at 8:15 pm by soul and R&B artist Lee Fields & The Expressions will be broadcast live by WXPN 88.5 FM.

Since 1990, Ted Leo has been known for his influential songwriting and for leading such innovative bands as Chisel, the Sin Eaters and Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, along with his production and playing with other noted bands. In the last couple of years, Leo has been performing with fellow guitarist/singer/songwriter Aimee Mann as The Both, who most recently headlined at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer in early May.

The 2nd Annual Make Music Philly event aligns Philadelphia with hundreds of other U.S. and global cities that celebrate the role of music in our lives by presenting free amateur and professional music performances all day on June 21, the summer solstice and longest day of the year. In the U.S., the celebration is known collectively as National Music Day. Make Music Philly is organized by WXPN and the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, with the support of local sponsors, venues and volunteers.

All details, along with a list of the many scheduled Make Music Philly free performances searchable by performer, venue/performance space, Philly neighborhood, time, and music genre, can be found at the Make Music Philly website: http://MakeMusicPhilly.org.
