WXPN Announces New Music Director/Operations Manager

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (July 7, 2004) — WXPN, the public radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, has named Dan Reed its new music director/operations manager.

Reed will oversee WXPN’s production and programming operations, talent booking, and serve as the primary liaison to the music industry on behalf of the station and its national syndicated program World Cafe®. This fall WXPN will move into its new home and state-of-the-art studios in the historic Hajoca building at 3025 Walnut Street.

Prior to joining WXPN, Reed was vice president for Public Radio Partnership overseeing programming/marketing functions for non-commercial radio stations WUOL, WFPK, and WFPL in Louisville, Kentucky. Reed founded and produced the AAA NON-COMMvention, a yearly conference for non-commercial AAA format radio stations.

“XPN has an incredible, longstanding reputation in both the radio and music industries,” said Reed. “I look forward to becoming part of a great team of broadcast professionals, and I can't wait to get started."

Reed holds a BA Degree in Communications from Ohio University.
