WXPN Reveals Its June Artist To Watch: The Hiders

PHILADELPHIA, PA – WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, has selected The Hiders to be the XPN Artist To Watch for June. Host David Dye will present the first of the month’s on-air segments focusing on this Cincinnati-based indie-band on Monday, June 5th in the four o’clock hour.

“The Hiders are our favorite new unsigned band. And with good reason,” said Dan Reed, music director for WXPN. “There's a musically robust Americana thing going on that reminds me of Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, The Band, Kathleen Edwards, and folkie psychedelia of early VU.”

“The band is fronted by Cinci music veteran, singer/songwriter/guitarist Bill Alletzhauser who used to be in The Ass Ponys and the album was produced by Brad Jones,” added Bruce Warren, assistant general manager for programming at WXPN. “Anchored with Beth Harris' sweet yet aching harmonies, The Hiders' debut album Valentine balances slow-burning love songs and full on rockers. Mesmerizing stuff.”

The XPN Artists To Watch series reflects WXPN’s commitment to nurturing fresh, new talent and exposing listeners to the best new music. Each month, the XPN Artists To Watch series spotlights a different up-and-coming performer who has produced an album or body of work that demonstrates outstanding vision, creativity and songwriting ability. Month-long on-air promotion is combined with online features to help audiences discover each artist.
