Gnarls Barkley is the debut collaboration between DJ Danger Mouse and Cee Lo. Danger Mouse, the producer of the legendary Grey Album and Gorillaz’s Demon Days, teams up with Atlanta rapper Cee Lo to release their first album St. Elsewhere. The album releases on May 9 on the Downtown label.
St. Elsewhere’s debut single, “Crazy,” synthesizes rock, soul and funk into a unique, eclectic whole and the entire album is filled with songs equally as good as the single.
“Gnarls Barkley’s debut album St. Elsewhere is very likely to continue DJ Danger Mouse’s hot streak that he had as producer for the Gorillaz,” said Bruce Warren, assistant general manager of programming for WXPN. “Now, with Cee-Lo singing, they’ve crafted an incredible album of infectious songs that bridge funk with rock and soul music.”
Dan Reed, music director for WXPN adds, “St. Elsewhere is filled with undeniably catchy songs for a modern world, a psychedelic soul masterpiece. The first single `Crazy’ will be the song of the summer, if it doesn’t ultimately become the song of the year.”
