WXPN and 6abc Present 885 Most Memorable Musical Moments Original Song ShowcaseOpportunity for Songwriters to Share Their Moments and Receive Airplay

Philadelphia, PA – WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A music and a noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania in partnership with 6abc (WPVI-TV) today announced the “885 Most Memorable Musical Moment Original Song Showcase,” a special outreach to musicians to participate in WXPN’s multi-media polling campaign where music fans share, discuss, and vote on their most significant musical moments. Select songs from this effort will be posted on the 6abc Web site 6abc.com (www.6abc.com) as submitted and broadcast on WXPN during the 1pm hour through the week of September 24 during Helen Leicht’s mid-day show.

“We’ve already heard from more than 1500 listeners who’ve shared their moments through essays, photos, audio stories, and video archives. Now we’re turning specifically to musicians for their artistic interpretations of the moments that have shaped their lives and their craft,” said Bruce Warren, WXPN program director. “With their likeminded focus on showcasing emerging local talent, we’re thrilled to partner with 6abc to reach as many musicians as possible about this unique opportunity to showcase their art.”

The 885 Most Memorable Musical Moments campaign kicked off in July with the “Share” phase which encouraged listeners to contribute to an online archive of memories. That phase ended August 31. The “Vote” phase, which runs from September 17 through September 30, lets listeners determine the ranking of the top 100 moments. The “Tune In” phase enables the audience to relive the 885 Most Memorable Musical Moments from October 2 to October 19 through a combination of synchronized on-air playback and online elements.

Compositions should be about a personal or a historic musical moment. Entries can be submitted via MP3 or CD and must include lyrics. For more information please visit XPoNentialMusic.org or 6abc.com. Submissions accepted through September 23, 2007.
