WXPN Announces Musicians On Call 5th Annual Benefit Concert featuring Rachael Yamagata, Andrew Lipke and Matt Duke Program benefits hospital patients throughout the Delaware Valley

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, today announced its 5th Annual WXPN Musicians On Call Benefit Concert to be held Wednesday, January 21 at World Cafe Live at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature performances by artists Rachael Yamagata, Andrew Lipke, and Matt Duke.

Tickets are just $10 and all ticket proceeds benefit WXPN Musicians On Call. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at XPN.org/moc-benefit or at the door. Anyone who would like to support WXPN Musicians On Call can make a donation online at anytime at XPN.org/moc.

“This concert is really special because it showcases great local artists and also raises money for a worthy cause,” said WXPN mid-day host Helen Leicht, spokesperson for WXPN Musicians On Call. “Music’s ability to heal is real and powerful, and the Musicians On Call program makes a positive impact on so many people’s lives. And just $20 – the cost of admission for two – makes it possible for us to deliver live music to the bedside of three hospital-bound patients.”

WXPN Musicians On Call is a non-profit initiative that brings musicians to local hospitals to perform at patients’ bedsides. Since 2004, the program has touched the lives of more than 15,000 patients and their families in healthcare facilities throughout the Philadelphia region. In addition to live music, the program also provides local hospitals with CD Pharmacies featuring a CD listening library and CD players for patients’ use.

This year’s headliner, Rachael Yamagata, is a singer-songwriter-pianist who has made Philadelphia her music home. Yamagata will be joined by Philadelphia folk rocker Andrew Lipke and New Jersey singer-songwriter Matt Duke.
