WXPN Launches Sustainability Series on Earth Day

PHILADELPHIA, PA – April 20, 2009 - WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and a noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania today announced that Sustainability – The New Frontier, a new, seven-week series of features that addresses sustainable agriculture, business, transportation and lifestyle will begin airing on Earth Day, April 22nd.

The guests to be interviewed over the seven-week period include: City of Philadelphia's Director of Sustainability, Dr. Mark Alan Hughes; Vice President of Lehigh Nanotech, Paul Osimo; The Pennsylvania Environmental Council's Director of Sustainable Development Programs, Spencer Finch and; Communications Manager Jessica Anderson.

The features, produced by XPN Morning Show Host Michaela Majoun, will air at 6:40 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. with additional news reporting by Bob Bumbera. The features will also be re-broadcast throughout the day. The station's website (XPN.org) will provide 24/7 access to relevant links and audio for the features.

"I've been talking about doing a series on sustainability for a couple of years now," said Majoun. "Mayor Nutter has committed the City to be the greenest in America, and Earth Day is coming up, so the time is right!"
