WXPN Brings SXSW Music and Media Conference to Philadelphia - Station to takeover the SXSW Radio Day Stage and broadcast live performances by The Lumineers, Delta Spirit and Father John Misty

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, is bringing SXSW Music and Media Conference to Philadelphia on Thursday, March 15. WXPN will takeover the SXSW Radio Day Stage and broadcast live performances by The Lumineers, Delta Spirit and Father John Misty. In addition, WXPN and The Key have partnered with Bands In The Backyard for a showcase in Austin that will feature a handful of Philly bands and non-local acts. Videos from this showcase will be posted on The Key at http://thekey.xpn.org.

The broadcast schedule is as follows:  

The Bands In The Backyard showcase will include Mrs. Magician, Oh! Pears, Break It Up, Attia Taylor, Dad Rocks, Shorty Boy Boy, The Veda Rays, Spirit Animal, and other guests. The performances run from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 15th in the backyard at 913 W. Johanna Street, Austin, TX. In addition, WXPN will link to NPR webcasts of major conference events including Bruce Springsteen’s keynote speech online at http://xpn.org.

“Connecting artists with audiences is our mission, that’s why we’re so excited to bring the best of SXSW back home to Philly,” said Bruce Warren, WXPN program director. “We hope our listeners will tune in and experience SXSW with us and visit The Key for great videos from the Bands In The Backyard showcase!”

Now in its 26th year, the SXSW Music and Media Conference is the must-attend networking event for the 21st century music industry. Showcasing nearly 2,000 musical acts from around the globe on stages throughout downtown Austin, SXSW registrants have a first-look at tomorrow's stars.
