WXPN’s The Key Debuts New EP From City Rain

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – April 11, 2012 – Want to hear the newest tracks from Philly electro-pop duo City Rain before they’re released? Look no further than The Key, WXPN’s online source for discovering Philly’s best local music. The Key will debut the band’s new EP Watch Out via online streaming on Friday, April 13, a solid four days before its scheduled release on Tuesday, April 17.

The independently-released Watch Out is the follow-up to last fall’s I’m Gone and combines the dance floor beats, soulful vocals, keyboard riffs and hooky guitar licks fans have come to expect from City Rain. The duo, made up of Ben Runyan and Jarrett Zerrer, has received nationwide attention from the blogosphere and conventional media alike since entering the scene in 2010 including being featured on XPN’s The Key Studio Sessions, a weekly interview, performance and recording session with a Philly band. City Rain is planning their first national tour this year.

“Within seconds of hearing City Rain’s catchy electronic synth-pop, it’s nearly impossible to not hit the dance floor without joyous abandonment,” said Bruce Warren, WXPN program director. “Runyan and Zerrer’s upbeat music brings to mind Depeche Mode, but with Zerrer on guitar, there’s a serious rock element in the mix.”
