Unexpected Sights, Sounds, and Thoughts from The 11th Annual Philadelphia Live Arts and Philly Fringe Festival
The 11th Annual Philadelphia Live Arts and Philly Fringe Festival is in full swing. It started Friday and is on until September 15 at venues around the city, bringing cutting edge performance art, theater, dance, music and visual art from around the world to mingle with local groups in an orgy of nonstop performance. Music is a huge part of the festival, on its own and accompany other arts.
Here’s a quick trip through some of the sounds and music of this year’s fest.
This pastiche of the 11th annual Philadelphia Live Arts and Philly Fringe Festival
is meant to let you know that the festival will expose you to unexpected sights,
sounds, and thoughts. It uses clips from The
Many Men of Martha Manning, a six episode radio soap opera available as
a podcast… Tar, a dance-based exploration of African trickster tales with music
composed by King Britt....Addicted to Bad Ideas: Peter Lorre's Twentieth
Century a punk rock operetta by Brooklyn’s World/Inferno Friendship Society…Grace:Kingdom, a multi-discipline recreation of Jeff Buckley’s CD Grace by A Grateful
Company…and No Dice by Nature Theater of Oklahoma, a four hour dinner theater
