Big Ways for Regular Folks to Support XPN

Just wanted to say thank you!!! What a great time my wife and I had on the Mural Arts trolley tour. Just another reason why XPN is the best. - Steve and Terry

Gifts of Stock

If you own stock, it may be more advantageous, from a tax perspective, for you to contribute stock instead of cash. In additon to a charitable gift tax donation, a gift of stock offers the extra benefit of avoiding capital gains tax on the stock's appreciation.

It is important to notify us when you are interested in transferring stock to WXPN so we can allocate your gift to the station appropriately.

Planned Giving

Using estate planning is one of the easiest ways to contribute to WXPN. You can find more information on Wills and Living Trusts, Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts and Gifts of Stock here.

Challenge Grants

XPN's most successful fundraising hours consistently take place when we have a challenge grant in effect. During a challenge hour, phones ring more often and new members join at a faster pace.

Public Radio Research supports this experience. Research shows that challenge grants are most frequently cited by first-time members as their number one reason for pledging.

During a typical Morning Show high listening hour, we raise about $8,000. With a challenge grant in effect, we can double that!

Offering a Challenge is Easy

You, your business or foundation can show its support for WXPN and receive recognition on-the-air during our Fund Drive. WXPN will work with you to design a challenge that will maximize both pledges and exposure for you.

If you would like to take a leadership role in supporting XPN and help us make our goal, we invite you to offer a challenge grant of $500 or more, during our next fund drive.

Here's How it Works

  • You make a challenge grant, encouraging listeners to join you in support of WXPN.
  • Your challenge grant is then announced several times throughout your designated on-air time, getting your name, or the name of your business, out to listeners.
  • You receive valuable on-air exposure before a large, loyal, and highly desirable WXPN audience.
  • Your gift helps support public radio and programming on WXPN.

Sample Challenge Grant from a Recent Fund Drive

The physicians at Spruce Internal Medicine, located at 7th and Walnut streets in Center City are offering a challenge to new donors! Doctors Gene Bishop, Kathleen King, and Jennifer Nizen will generously donate $25 for every new member that joins this hour! Spruce Internal Medicine is a primary care internal medicine practice & for more information find them on the web at pennhealth.com. But right now, we need you to log on to XPN.org and make your first ever pledge to XPN to take the Spruce Internal Medicine team up on their generous offer!
