When the Furs dissolved in 2011, Daniel suggested starting a band and Boeckner immediately agreed. Because of the member’s indie rock pedigree, the Divine Fits have been referred to as a supergroup though the band itself finds that term offensive. They have stressed that this group is not a vanity project but rather a real band with ongoing plans for the future. The band’s sound is eclectic ranging from urgent acoustic jams to quiet, sincere crooning. Their highly anticipated new album A Thing Called Divine Fits is out August 28. The album opens with the catchy, pulsing “My Love is Real” and includes a cover of “Shiver”, which Daniel sings compellingly and Boeckner does justice to on the guitar. Ultimately, A Thing Called Divine Fits blends both the styles and voices of Daniel and Boeckner with a convincing synthesis.

The Divine Fits are an indie rock group comprised of Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs, and New Bomb Turks’ Sam Brown. A few years ago, Daniel attended a Handsome Furs concert; he and Boeckner have remained friends ever since.
