About Latin Roots

Latin Roots Live
The Latin Roots Live! concert series is inspired by Latin Roots, the bi-weekly radio series on World Cafe® hosted by David Dye, which explores the vast variety of music from Spanish-speaking countries and people, from cumbia, mambo and son to Latin rock, reggaeton, and more. Latin Roots on World Cafe is made possible by the Wyncote Foundation. Latin Roots Live! is produced in partnership with Afrotaino and Raices Culturales and made possible by the William Penn Foundation

World Cup Begins –Latin Roots Brings Us The “Official” (And Not So Official) Music

June 12, 2014 - The World Cup begins today in Brazil amidst a bit of controversy concerning FIFA football’s governing body. There is also some musical controversy of a less serious but still contentious type. For Latin Roots today Judy Cantor-Navas is here to explain the difference between the official “theme song” and the official “anthem.” We’ll hear both of them and talk about how the largely Portuguese speaking Brazilian population feels about official music not in their language.

Session Setlist We Are One (Ole Ola) - One Love, One Rhythm - The 2014 FIFA World Cip Official Album - Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull
