Sense of Place: Baltimore –Future Islands Makes Baltimore Their Home

It’s not just Future Islands’ recent success that makes them perfect for our Sense of Place visit to Baltimore. The band’s new album Singles has found much more of an audience than their past three. That’s due in part to being on the more high profile label 4AD, but mostly because of the response to lead singer Samuel T Herring’s impassioned performance of the song “Seasons (Waiting On You)” on Letterman. We’ll hear a live version of that today. More importantly we’ll talk to the band about their relationship to the Baltimore music scene, established when they moved there from North Carolina in 2007. They found a welcoming home that has supported them ever since.
