Nikki Lane On World Cafe

  • Listen:
Nikki Lane on World Cafe Nikki Lane is a singer-songwriter from Greenville, South Carolina who has cultivated and developed her own stylistic imprint on the country music world. After dropping out of high school, Nikki moved to Los Angeles where she aspired to make a career as a fashion designer. After spending a few years on the West Coast, she relocated to New York city where her career as a songwriter would eventually form.
Hear the alt-country singer play songs from Highway Queen and discuss her blue-collar South Carolina upbringing.
Nikki Lane's new album, Highway Queen, showcases her husky voice, soaring country twang and killer attitude. She grew up in South Carolina and now calls Nashville home. But it was by no means a direct trip to Music City; Lane's interest in fashion took her to Los Angeles and New York before her music career took over.
