Donovan Woods On World Cafe

  • Listen:
Donovan Woods on World Cafe Donovan Woods estimates he'd written "probably 5,000 bad songs" before he wrote his first good one. Now, the Ontario musician is part of the Nashville scene, penning songs for country heavyweights like Tim McGraw and Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum. In an interview with host Talia Schlanger, Donovan explains how a lucky invitation brought him to Music City. And he performs songs from his new album, Both Ways, live in the studio. On the next World Cafe.
Woods found success in Nashville co-writing for artists including Tim McGraw and Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum. It was all just par for the course given his remarkable artistry.
A couple nights before Donovan Woods came in to World Cafe I went to see his show in Philadelphia and I was standing next to a guy who had never heard of Woods before. Once the applause died down after the first song, the man said to himself, "Wow."
