Latin Roots: Strong Women In The Male-Dominated World Of Salsa

Strong Women In The Male-Dominated World Of Salsa

For Latin Roots today producer Aaron Levinson is back to talk about the women of salsa. As he readily admits, women have had a tough time in the male dominated world of salsa, Celia Cruz being the exception as she is possibly the most beloved figure in the genre male or female. Today he'll talk about some others and we'll hear about an all female salsa band that started in the 1930s.

Setlist:
Oriente by Tito Puento Y La Lupe
Traigo Mi Coco Seco by Orquesta Anacaona

Latin Roots is made possible by a grant from the Wyncote Foundation.
