A critics' favorite, Grammy-nominated Shemekia Copeland firmly rejects the notion of limiting herself to a single genre. Daughter of blues guitar legend Johnny Clyde Copeland, the young star is already well established at the front of today's generation of blues singers, yet her latest release - 2009's Never Going Back - affirms her place as an innovative leader of the group, pushing the walls of the genre to include inspiration from outside the usual sources while always remaining loyal to its roots. The album is her fifth release since her 1999 debut, Turn the Heat Up!, released when she was only nineteen.
