WXPN will be broadcasting the new radio show, The Connie Club, hosted by Low Cut Connie frontman and pianist Adam Weiner through October on Thursday evenings at 10 pm. The first episode airs this Thursday, October 10.

The Connie Club is a “dirty, divey little local bar where everyone is welcome,” writes Weiner. “The air conditioning is broken, the food is terrible, but the music is slamming and there’s always a party going on.” Throughout each show, Weiner plays DJ — and his piano Shondra — as well as talks with various musical guests.

The show will feature a wide variety of upbeat music chosen by Weiner, from artists like Slim Harpo, Kurtis Blow, The Fantastic Johnny C, Junior Walker, David Bowie, Joe South, and more. From rock and roll to rockabilly, to the second line sounds of New Orleans and funky grooves of Memphis soul, Weiner’s music mix will get any party started. The Connie Club will be a taste of Saturday nights on Thursday evenings at 10 pm on WXPN.

This Thursday evening, there’s going to be a listening party with Low Cut Connie at Lucky’s Last Chance in Queen Village starting at 9 pm. You can find more information here. WXPN also Welcomes Low Cut Connie to Union Transfer on December 21st.
