Soccer Mommy shares a new single this week ahead of the June 24th release of her third LP Sometimes Forever. The new song “Bones,” comes out with a music video by Her Smell director Alex Ross Perry; it is the third single following “Shotgun” and “Unholy Affliction,” the latter of which especially reveals producer Oneohtrix Point Never’s influence on the record.
“Bones” sounds like a callback to Soccer Mommy’s earlier releases, founded on songwriter Sophie Allison’s Kurt Cobain-inspired guitar playing. The lyrics carry pain, but are delivered sweetly. Allison explains in a statement, “‘Bones’ is a song about struggling with the parts of yourself that you don’t like in a relationship. It’s about wanting to become better for someone and feeling like you’re standing in your own way.”
Soccer Mommy is coming to Franklin Music Hall on her upcoming headlining tour. She’ll play the Callowhill neighborhood venue on November 11th with Helena Deland. Tickets are available at XPN’s Concerts and Events page. Watch “Bones” below.
