Arctic Monkeys are releasing their seventh studio album The Car and first new music since 2018 on Friday. Out now is the single “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am,” and music video shot live in Brooklyn at Kings Theatre.

Over the couple decades of their career, Arctic Monkeys have polished their sharper edges quite a bit. Their early screechy rock ‘n roll with slight ska sensibility has transitioned to smooth, synthy lounge music. To paint a clear picture, 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino could score a high-production value, intellectual television show, like your Westworlds and Successions. And that’s more what we’re expecting from forthcoming The Car. But with a hint of funk, if “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” is any indication.

Listen to “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” below. Arctic Monkeys are on tour in 2023 with Fontaines D.C. They come to The Mann on September 5th. Get your tickets using the WXPN Concerts and Events page.
