Job Description Summary

WXPN, the public media organization from the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, is looking for a dynamic Video Production Coordinator to lead our video content production from concept through execution. This position partners closely with content creators, editors, marketing teams, and other departments to create and produce videos that align with WXPN’s mission and objectives. The ideal candidate is a versatile and creative individual who possesses technical videography expertise, project management skills, and an innate ability to craft visual stories that resonate, inform, and engage our audience.

Job Description

  • Video Production & Shooting:
    • Shoot and direct video for live events, social media campaigns, and studio sessions, in a variety of settings: indoor venues, studio spaces, outdoor festivals, and events
    • Oversee video projects’ entire life-cycle, from concept through production, post, review, and launch phases. Projects include, but are not limited to, live music. performances, in-studio performances, interviews, and spontaneous shoots with talent and radio hosts.
    • Oversee live-streaming of live music events, and work with video team members to develop shot lists.
    • Create social/marketing videos in collaboration with the marketing team to boost the station’s online presence.
    • Repurpose and repackage existing archival videos and edit them so they are fit for various project needs.
    • Collaborate with digital content manager to refine the WXPN video content strategy and visual branding guidelines.
    • Collaborate with other teams (marketing, membership, programming, and editorial teams) to help shape video concepts and deliver on project deadlines.
    • Leverage data and insights to create engaging content for the WXPN audience.
  • Project & Staff  Management:
    • Successfully manage numerous projects with overlapping deadlines, including pre-and post-production schedules and workflows, from footage ingest to final delivery.
    • Work across diverse teams, fostering collaboration and seamless communication.
    • Engage professionally with talent and in-house staff.
    • Manage part-time video staff and maintain a stable of freelance videographers
    • Train and mentor interns, providing them with hands-on learning opportunities.
    • Oversee teams of camera operators, guiding them toward excellence in every shoot.
  • Budget Management:
    • Work with digital content manager to manage video budgets, ensuring high-quality production while staying within financial constraints.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Concentration in Film, Media Production, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in video production, with a proven track record managing a team required.
  • Expertise in directing and shooting live music events.
  • Proven track record crafting visual stories that resonate, inform, and engage.
  • Knowledge of video/YouTube SEO strategy.
  • Proficiency in video editing and design software (e.g. Final Cut, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Knowledge of and expertise in the latest equipment and video trends
  • Familiarity with multiple production media including, video, photography, and post-production (Graphics, Animation, Color Correction, Audio Mixing)
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with an ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work on tight timelines and manage budget constraints.
