PHILADELPHIA, PA - WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A music and non-commercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, names Diego Garcia as its September Artist To Watch. WXPN Music Director and Host Dan Reed presented the first of the month's on-air segments today, September 1, in the 4 p.m. hour.

As an Argentine-American, Diego Garcia works to infuse his Latin roots into his music, and does so beautifully in his new solo debut album. After the breakup of his band Elefant, Garcia explored his personal melodic and lyrical styles, as shown in his album Laura. The album, released in April 2011, is a compilation of songs in which the artist showcases his unique style. His music drifts the listener back to the 1970s with its soft melodic riffs and use of strings, delicate percussion, and Spanish guitars; Garcia's lyrics lay gently on top in such a way that sounds like the crescendo of softly sung Spanish. Diego Garcia has been gaining a following in the greater Philadelphia area quickly, and his interview on World Cafe, along with the release of his full album, has enticed many already. He plays an upcoming show at the Tin Angel on September 21st, and a Free at Noon on September 23rd, and is sure to draw in quite a crowd with his warm, intimate sounds and unique baroque-pop style.

"Diego Garcia's debut album Laura has completely gotten inside our musical hearts and minds," says Bruce Warren, Assistant General Manager of Programming for WXPN. "There's a baroque-pop flavor to this album that is warm and intimate, well-crafted and well played. The song `You Were Never There' is starting to get some fantastic response from XPN listeners and we thought with his upcoming show in Philly in September, now would be a terrific time to turn our listeners on to more of his music."

Dan Reed said, "Laura is a truly beautiful record, and `You Were Never There' had an immediate and lasting effect on our listeners."
