Alice Russell

Alice Russell: A Naturally Soulful Force of Nature

August 13, 2013 - The British soul singer Alice Russell just loves to belt it out. Her voice draws comparisons that range from Chaka Khan to the late Amy Winehouse.

That voice has been in demand in the studio for years: singing on productions by Quantic, with Talking Heads’ David Byrne, and on her own 5 albums, many produced by TM Juke. Her new album, out this past April, is called To Dust. Alice thrives on stage where she can really let loose. We’ll talk about that catharsis and hear the result in today’s session live in front of a very enthusiastic audience at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia.
