Kurt Vile On World Cafe

  • Listen:
Kurt Vile on World Cafe Kurt Vile, formerly of The War On Drugs, made his solo breakthrough with the 2013 psychedelic album, Wakin On A Pretty Daze. His latest, called Bottle It In, was recorded over the course of a few years, and on the road, while touring with Courtney Barnett for their 2017 collaboration, Lotta Sea Lice. Today, Kurt and his band The Violators perform live in the studio. And the Philadelphia native swaps stories with host Stephen Kallao about their run-ins with the Philly Parking Authority. Kurt Vile, on the next World Cafe.
There are few people who can spin a tale like Kurt and it shows on his latest record. Hear a live studio performance of songs from Bottle It In.
Kurt Vile's song "Loading Zones" is in my head. It's a song about Kurt's adventures driving around Philadelphia. In particular, I've been thinking the last few minutes, wherein he repeats this line over and over: "I park for free."I parked for free. Until I didn't.
