Jeremy Dutcher joins host Raina Douris

A language is more than just words. It is how you experience and define the world around you, and when a language stops being spoken, something is lost. Jeremy Dutcher, who is a Wolastoqiyik member of the Tobique First Nation, has made it his mission to preserve his people’s endangered language, called Wolastoqey. On the World Cafe, Dutcher joins us to talk about his latest album, Motewolonuwok, writing songs in both Wolastoqey and English, and about the joy that can be found in cultural exchange.
